Mayoral Candidate Doug Krause- West St.Supporter from the Beginning

Doug Krause

"I am Doug Krause and have been a Naperville City Councilman for 18 years. Over the years, I have held the position that we must keep the area along West Street open space. Every so often there is a group or organization that wants to build on this open green space. In the past the list included the City of Naperville looking for a location for a new City Hall or Public Works Center, and the Park District scouting for a site for a skate park. Now we have a new player in the mix, District 203, looking to add on or to build a new high school. I have been consistent and voted to defeat the past proposals and will continue to defend the open space on West Street. Recently the Council approved the Hobson West Village, a 22 multi-family town home development on West Street by a 5-4 vote. I voted with the residents and voted NO. This 6-acre parcel is in-between two ponds owned by the Park District. This should be open space connecting the two Ponds making the Hobson Ponds Sanctuary complete. I did get the developer to agree not to do anything for 12 months with the property; the additional 6 months will give us the necessary time to acquire the land. I have and will continue to vote against any development that will take this wonderful open green space from West Street.".

Sincerely Yours,

Doug Krause
